One major type of collection carried by the museum is heritage items used by Mrs. Yimtubeznash Habte herself. Other displays include items that have been passed down from generation to generation and used for various purposes.

Among the multidimensional definitions and types of cultural heritage, artwork is one which represents a certain society, its cultural values, daily activities, and identity.
There are various works of art in the museum, gathered from a variety of individuals and institutions.

Ethnography
The cultural, historical, and religious manifestations of peoples are generally represented through ethnography. One of the museum's collections are ethnographic items that represent the different nations, nationalities, and peoples of Ethiopia.

Crafts
Ethiopia and its people have a long history of unique crafts and tools. The museum has a collection of agricultural instruments, household items, handicrafts, traditional weapons, pottery, clothing, jewelry, traditional costumes and musical instruments, and so much more.

As the capital of Ethiopia and Africa, Addis Ababa residences have an easy access to use new technologies and innovations. The museum has a number of old and outdated technological machines.
